What are tripe?

This will ensure that you do not develop anemia and that your red blood cell count is normal. At the same time, tripe is low-calorie and aids weight loss. Of course, be careful! When consumed in excess, they can raise your cholesterol.

Beef tripe is popular around the world. For example, in Italy they don’t allow cooked tripe, which they prepare with vegetables. How to prepare tripe for tripe soup
Let’s get down to the actual preparation of tripe for soup. If you buy raw tripe, you will spend at least an hour preparing it. Even though they have been through several wash cycles, you still need to clean them and boil them several times.
How to clean fresh beef tripe? Wash them under running water and boil them in salted water at least three times in a row. Do you want to make your work easier? Buy pre-cooked beef tripe and rinse it carefully with water at home, then put it in a pot of water and bring it to a boil. It takes approximately 20 to 25 minutes to cook them gently.
Classic Tripe Soup Recipe. How to prepare tripe?
Prepare delicious tripe soup. It consists of a strong beef broth, tripe and a mixture of spices.
Start by washing the pre-cooked tripe with water and cutting it into small strips, but not too small. Then you put them in a pot with salted water and cook them until soft. This will take approximately 20 minutes. Meanwhile, finely chop the onion.
Once the tripe is cooked, drain and let it drain.
Melt the lard in a medium saucepan and sauté the onion in it. Once the onion turns glassy, dust it with flour and sweet paprika. Pour the broth into the mixture and mix thoroughly. Now add the remaining ingredients – dried marjoram, crushed garlic, cumin, salt, pepper and tripe. Then bring to a boil and let it boil for 30 minutes.
Serve the soup with fresh bread and garnish with fresh marjoram.
Untraditional tripe soup
Tripe soup made from pre-cooked tripe is delicious, but why not try its Turkish, Polish, Caribbean or vegetarian version? The recipe for the Turkish version of tripe soup includes milk, olive oil, lemon juice and wine vinegar. In Poland, they add vegetables to the traditional tripe soup, so the result is a kind of tripe broth. The Caribbean version is typified by the addition of pumpkins and sweet potatoes.
