Teriyaki sauce should not be missing in your kitchen, just like soy sauce. Its sweet taste gives the meat the right kick. The recipe contains ingredients with pronounced flavors, but the result is perfect.



  1. Clean the onion (or 5 shallots) and chop finely.
  2. Clean the garlic and press it, peel the ginger and grate it on the fine side of the grater.
  3. Chop the chili pepper into very small pieces.
  4. Mix all ingredients except cornstarch and 3 tablespoons of water together and mix thoroughly.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil while stirring occasionally.
  6. Meanwhile, mix the starch in a small bowl with 3 tablespoons of water.
  7. Pour the starch into the boiling mixture and stir.
  8. The starch will thicken the sauce in a moment; you can turn off the stove.

The use of teriyaki sauce comes from its name. "Teri" represents something shiny, and "yaki" in Japanese means grilling. This sauce is mainly used for marinating meat; during baking or grilling, the meat is basted with the sauce. For example, salmon with this sauce or grilled chicken with teriyaki sauce is excellent.
